Ugly Default WordPress.com Theme Gets Replaced By A Pretty Theme!

Even as recently as last month, one of the peeps attending my “Learn to Build & Grow your Small Business Using WordPress” workshop here in San Francisco asked me.

Hey Blog Doctor, why is the Default WordPress theme soooooo UGLY?

My response to that? Nothing. I never have a good enough answer, even though I have been asked that question many times by many different persons, especially in situations where I am evangelizing WordPress as the perfect solution to professional bloggers and small businesses alike.

Well, thanks to the team at Automattic, the release of version 3.0 of WordPress will forever end that question!

Wordpress Default Theme gets a "Face-Lift"!

Matt Thomas announced the arrival of the new default wordpress theme – named Twenty Ten – in the WordPress 3.0 release for all new wordpress.com blogs. WordPress.com is already running on version 3.0 at the time of writing this post. I am guessing (/hoping) that this theme will also cascade over to the self-hosted release, so that we can finally lay Kubrik to rest!

Besides being a much prettier theme, this new default theme boast the following cool new features

  1. Custom Headers
  2. Custom Backgrounds
  3. Drop-down Menus
  4. Special styles for Asides and Galleries
  5. Widgets Galore
  6. Beautiful Print Layout

So to everyone who worked hard on this part of the release, “Nice work Peeps!”
